Ben's last in-home speech therapy

Ben was diagnosed with Apraxia last December and started speech therapy in January. His speech therapist, Domoni, came to our home for his play therapy sessions twice a month. She would bring a huge bag of toys and they would have fun together. She always seemed to genuinely enjoy Ben and gave him, and us, tons of compliments.

He is progressing in his speech abilities, but still has a long ways to go. He primarily communicates through sign language. He is saying more and more words and trying really hard. When he was evaluated he tested off the charts in every area. His IQ, cognitive skills, receptive language skills, etc, were all very high for his age. He simply has a speech disability.

Now that the school year is starting and he is old enough he will be attending a special preschool that has a speech therapist work with the children. He will go to school once a week and is very excited to do so. But that means he will no longer have his "play-dates" with Domoni. So we had our last in-home therapy session with her this month and we were both very sad to see her go. Ben really loves her. Goodbye Dononi...

C's shirt siting! I love it! It gives me such a thrill to see his shirts on Ben. I can't explain it. It makes me feel loved.

Smiles!
