Six Flags - Part 5 the SKYCOASTER!!!!

I have saved the "best for last" at least for me. And since I am the one posting on this blog, I can say what I want, right? So, let me start this crazy story at the beginning. Nathan decided it would be really cool if Nick, him and I would go on the Skycoaster together.

First, here is a description of it; You are put into big body mats and you walk out onto a blue platform. You are lifted up and strapped onto the two hanging steel cords. The blue platform drops and you are snapped down until you lie parallel to the ground. A cord behind you lifts up the 175' tower in an arch. Once at the top, the attendants at the bottom talk to you through a speaker and countdown... "3... 2... 1... FLY!" and whoever is on the far right (that was Ncik!) pulls a cord and you're off. Right before you pull, you are still parallel to the ground and right after you pull, you angle straight down and then you're off. You swing back and forth a few times and then once you've slowed down enough, the attendants at the ground hold up a momentum absorbing stick which you grab the end of to bring you to a stop.

Nick watched one guy go solo and then immediately had to use the restroom. I thought, "great I'm off the hook! Just watching that made Nick so scared he had to pee!" But then he comes out of the restroom and says, "okay! Let's go!" "You're going to do it?!" I ask. "Yeah!" He says excitedly. "Oh crap oh crap oh crap..." I say as I walk down the stairs to my doom. I can't back out now. My 10 year old son is brave enough to do it. I cannot send him up there by himself! Ok, I'm in...reluctantly...oh crap oh crap oh crap....

When we got down to where they put us in the body bags...oh I mean "harnesses" Nick was relieved to find out that we were all going together. He was going to go by himself! He is crazy! Definitely takes after his daddy!

Just look at our faces! Nick and Nathan are so excited. I am just praying for someone to spot lightning and they have to shut down the ride, oh darned that would just be too bad. But no, not my lucky day, no lightning storms. There were earlier! Where did they go?!

Being pulled up to 175 feet! That is 10 stories!!!

Praying really hard right now that there will be NO lightning, or any other malfunctions of any kind!

Weeee! This is kind of fun, after the initial heart stopping, stomach in your throat, "don't let me die" feeling!

Nick has the state of mind to wave. He is so cool!

I'm alive!!!!

Yes, I know I cannot believe I did this either. But I can now say that I did something this thrilling, crazy, scary, and yes, in hindsight, I can honestly say fun!
But...been there, done that. No thank you, not again. Have proven myself already!
