Update on Andrew

Our sweet little baby had another "episode". We were in the van and Nathan was driving. I hear Andrew in the back seat gasping for breath. I unbuckle and jump in the back with him as fast as I can (we were the only three in the van.) He was doing that thing I told about in the earlier post where it looked like he was having a seizure. Then afterwards he wasn't lethargic or anything, but he did this scared startled reaction where he arched his back, threw his head back and one or both arms straight up with clenched fists and had a scared look on his face. He did this three more time in a matter of minutes.

As soon as we arrived home I called his doctor's office. When his doctor called me back we talked about what this could be. He said that sometimes infants will look like they are having seizures but it is something else. The most common reason is Acid Reflux! The painful burning in their chest is too much for them and they "seize up".

So our plan of action is to put him on acid reflux medication and see if there is any improvement. If his "episodes" get closer together, worse, more violent, or if they continue to happen after three weeks on the medication then we will get him in for a brain scan (I think he said an EKG?) and then take it from there. I hope this is all that's wrong and it is a simple fix.

Remember back when he had the Pyloric Stenosis and at first they thought it was just Acid Reflux? Well, maybe he had both after all! He is a spitty baby, but I wouldn't call it excessive. Now it is just wait and see with a lot of prayer mixed in!

I hope that the reflux medicine does that trick.

But, wow, that's still scary. I HATE seeing my kidlets in pain. You poor thing!

Hey Satina, Sorry to hear about baby Andrew...Aimee was telling me about it yesterday...Andrew is in good hands (yours) and hopefully you and the doctors will figure this out soon. Follow your instincts, they are good. Sorry I haven't been in touch, life here is literally crazy with all the running around and building a house. Life is good just busy. Take care. Talk soon.

The seizures can be pretty scary. We hope the medicine does the trick. Give Andrew a big hug from us. Lov ya

We hope Andrew will be ok with the meds. EEG is what they would do, lots of electrodes on the head while they do different things to try and cause the episode to happen again. Hope it is not necessary.
Love you! B&B
