Ben's "procedure"

Ben finally had his re-circumcision this past week on Monday, December 1st. Because of his age he had to be put to sleep and get stitches and he was back in surgery for 2 hours (this included the time putting him to sleep and waking him up)! My poor baby!

The first day he was pretty good. He has some local down there that lasted most of the day. They gave me some Tylenol with Codeine and told me when to start giving that to him. They said that it wires some kids. Well, anyone who knows Ben knows he doesn't need any help getting wired. But I gave it to him for the pain and within minutes it kicked in! Ben went from moaning on the couch and not wanting to move to running around the house yelling and screaming. He was in a VERY good mood. Whoa!

So I decided that was his first and last dose of the Tylenol with Codeine because I was afraid he would hurt himself. From then on out I just gave him Tylenol and Ibuprofen.

The next few days he was pretty sore again. He did do surprisingly well though, better than most people I think. The cutest thing was what he was calling it. Here is a transcript of a conversation;

Ben: "owww" (imagine the sweetest and most pathetic little voice you can)
Mom: "What's the matter? Does your penis hurt?"
Ben: "yessss, my pieces hurt, owwwww."
Mom: "Do you need more medicine?"
Ben: "yes, mededine for my pieces, pleeeese."

Then on Friday he had his follow up appointment with the doctor and the doctor messed with his "pieces" a bit too much and then Ben was in much more pain again. He once again was doing the slow penguin walk. When we got home I had to put some ointment on him and he didn't want me to touch him. He was pushing me away and crying, "owee, owee, owee" so in a desperate voice I finally said, "Ben, I know you hurt and I'm trying to help you, what do you want me to do?" Instantly he folded his arms and in his sweet little voice he said, "pray, pray for my pieces". So he gingerly sat on my lap and we said a little prayer together for this sweet little faithful boy.

After his prayer he took his nap and after his nap he was feeling much better again. What a sweet child!

Today he feeling much better and a week later, he is practically all better, just a few little stitches yet to fall out. Whew! I am so glad that behind us!
