Ben's trip to the OR

On May 13th Ben had surgery to put ear tubes in and to cauterize his nose. He has had several ear infections this past year and his ears were not draining from the last on (which was over a month before hand) so he was having trouble hearing. We had his hearing checked and he had "significant hearing loss" in both ears because of all the fluid. He also has had frequent nose bleeds so they took care of that while he was sedated.

Ben did amazingly well at the hospital and was a favorite of all the nurses. He is such a sweet, easy going kid. He even winked at a few of the nurses! That won them over big time! He even got a Popsicle after his surgery even though those are usually reserved for people who have tonsil surgery or are having trouble with dry mouth after anesthesia.

Afterwards he recovered very quickly. On the way home we stopped at the grocery store to let him pick out a donut since he wasn't allowed to ear breakfast and the poor kid was starving. All he had so far was some juice and a Popsicle. Ben had to pick out one for everyone so we ended up getting a full dozen (it was cheaper that way).

We arrived home at 11:30AM (we arrived at the hospital at 8AM, so not too bad) and he ate his breakfast/lunch and then laid on the couch for about an hour. But he was up and even outside riding his scooter by 2:00 in the afternoon! What can we say? He bounces back quickly!
